Who knows how long I've loved you ~ Farewell Sweet Topaz

Beautiful Goodbye
♥*♥**♥*♥**♥*♥**♥*♥**♥*♥**♥*♥**♥*♥

Her Devotion wasn’t something I earned.
It's not because I'm good...It's because she was good.
I would always say that,
Topaz will never break my heart, unless she leaves me.
Yesterday she had to leave me and so my heart is broken.

Her love and devotion was ever present.
She filled me with endless Love and Joy.

Why even her eyes smiled whenever I returned home.
Dogs are a treasured gift to us.

They offer us so much without asking for anything in return.

I am so very grateful for Topaz coming into my life...

My Little Fur Child...xo

The house lies silent

I grieve your sweet, gentle nature

Shed pure soft-hearted tears

Your loving temperate soul

resides amid the heavens

For you were a life giving Angel

Who nurtured and loved

Those hearts that loved and knew you best

This tender tribute stands

The seeds of Love you shared while here

 Will harvest new in Heaven

Adrift

Feeling very far from home - alone
in the dark of night
that seems to stretch on forever.

No where to turn - lost
in the midst of life – cast
adrift on dry land.

Just out of reach of living

no where to turn...
no one to turn to.

Grasping for clarity - alone
reaching for long-forgotten
light

searching for what has escaped.

No where to turn...

No one to turn to.

Find me, guide me, save me
from this trap of the unknown.

Where is the home that I recognize?
how do I return ?
does it still exist ?

does it wait in quiet solitude?
Authors note
This write came about since I’m feeling a bit under the weather,
due to a thyroid problem. Hopefully the change in meds,
will have me as good as new within a couple of weeks.

On The Mend

Hi there...just to let you all know...

I'm feeling a bit fuzzy in the thinking since
I just found out that my thyroid levels are off again...
I've been feeling a bit tired and down for quite awhile, however
I had no idea my thyroid levels had changed.
My Dr has increased my dosage,
so hopefully I will find my muse again, when I feel better...
I may have a write for this week...???
Resting and getting better in Lindsay

In the meantime...Enjoy....

Poor Little Lambs

This is my first attempt at posting for

Short Story Slam Week 6-Children's Literature

Country Nights with Dog and Elephant by ManicD Daily

Eddie, the baby elephant, was shivering and cold when Laney, the tiny Lamb dog, found him in lost in the woods one cold dark autumn night.

“Laney, what's that song you’re humming?" asked Eddie.

“Oh…it’s just a song that my mother always sings to me when I’m scared, like you are now, Eddie.”

“Laney, I am scared. I miss my Mom.”

“Don’t be afraid, Eddie. I’m right here beside you," Laney offered, trying hard to sound convincing.

“Laney, are there words to it?"

“To what?" asked Laney.

“To the song that your Mom sings to you.”

“Oh! Ya, sure there are words, Eddie.”

“Laney, can you sing them please?

With that, Laney turned and looked straight past Eddie’s long elephant trunk directly into his sad blue eyes. She could see that Eddie was still very frightened. Maybe even more frightened than she herself was.
Laney turned and gently wrapped her tiny lamb-like tail around Eddie’s large trunk and started walking across the meadow under the star-filled night sky.
Then, with her wee small voice, Laney, the Bedlington terrier, sang her Mother’s song for her newfound friend, Eddie the elephant.

♫ We are poor little lambs, who have lost our way ♫
Baa! Baa! Baa! ♫¸.•*
♫ We’re little scared sheep who have gone astray ♫
Baa! Baa! Baa!

♫¸.•*♥♫¸.•*¨)ღ ♥(¸.•´♫ ♥♫¸.•*¨)

Little Laney and Eddie walked through the dark of night into the wee small hours of early dawn.
The morning sun brought some comfort for the two friends, for it left the scary night behind them.
As they stood side-by-side in the clearing, loud singing off in the distance startled them.
Laney and Eddie listened closely as the voices approached.
As they looked toward the hillside, Laney and Eddie could not believe their eyes. Singing the lamb song together were Laney and Eddie’s Mamas. Both Laney and Eddie ran to them, eagerly wanting to share their brave escapades from the night before.

Suddenly out of nowhere, with a boisterous voice, Eddie announces:

“Ya see, Laney, I told you there was nothing to be scared of!”

The two relieved Moms looked at Eddie and Laney, then at each other before bursting into laughter

Twilight Garden

In the still of early evening light
when the gardens appear
as if touched by magic,
they are mantled by the
tender air of twilight,
fashioning an awe-inspiring
vibrant display.

Before the dark of night befalls us
and the magic light eludes us,
enter the allure of twilight
In the garden.

Do you believe in Magic?
Tonight is their first Open Link Night.

Morning

My morning tea  always
tastes better by candlelight
Alone in a room of my own
aware of the stillness that surrounds me
There is something about a lit candle
that makes a room come alive
All my senses become heightened
Wanderlust imaginings fill my mind
The candle flickers with hypnotic light
inviting buoyant energy
to share this esoteric space
as we merge into
secluded stillness

Leonard Cohen: Hallelujah Sung by KD Lang

Over at One Stop Poetry Poetry they are spotlighting Leonard Cohen today.

This song moves me to tears whenever I hear…by whoever is singing it. My favourite rendition is by KD Lang when she sang  it at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver 2010…stunning voice…incredible song…  Leonard Cohen ... A Canadian Treasure
Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen

Now I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you
To a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
You say I took the name in vain
I don't even know the name
But if I did, well really, what's it to you?
There's a blaze of light
In every word
It doesn't matter which you heard
The holy or the broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though
It all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
...

Chimes–Desire

Dear Friends

We have to be willing to accept the
consequences of what it is we truly desire.
When there is doubt about the outcome of our desires.
They will not present themselves to us.
Only when we are ready, will they come to fruition.
Our readiness and acceptance permits
spirit to set things in motion.
For change is always a part of desire.
Our willingness to accept change enables
our dreams to be reality.
Fear and doubt will hold everything back.

Babbling Brook

Barefoot tender
River Rock smooth
Refreshing, so cool
The Rivers edge welcoming embrace
Boulders comfort warmed by the Sun
Breath of summers past
awaken memories so dear
Faint melancholy traces back
To the Babbling Brook.

This poem holds memories from my childhood...
spending time with my sisters,
down the back lane of our property
at the babbling brook.......
I can hear the birds singing as I remember with fondness

Embroidery

The imaginings of artistic talent
is inspiring and hard to resist
no matter what form it takes.
Creativity manifests as if by magic…
something from nothing…

It’s not just  poetry that manifests as if by magic.  There are many art forms.  Embroidery happens to be one that is my bliss…I was taught the art of embroidery as a small child by my Mother.  I remember my first piece as if it were yesterday, a pre-made pot holder with a stamp of a Rooster on it.  I choose the colors black and red for my creation.  I recall stitching big awkward stitches while learning and then wondered, what happened?  Ha! I must say, it took me awhile to learn the lesson of patience.  My husband says that I am still learning that lesson.  I remember thinking, embroidery isn’t as fast as colouring. My Mom’s voice still echoes in my head…"the smaller the stitch, the neater your work”  Now I understand why the next piece she gave me was cross stitch.  Despite my impatience, I persevered and continued to stitch with enthusiasm.  In a very short time I came to love embroidery.  I soon had my own hoop, needles, threads and of course we can’t forget the tiny scissors. To this day I still prefer to use my little vintage hoop which belonged to my Grandmother. After many years and numerous projects, I finally have mastered the smallest of stitches.

You won’t always find traditional colours in my embroidery, no colour choices which are typically expected.  I tend to have an outside the box approach for my needlework art.  “Who says you can’t have an orange daisy with a purple center”.   I embroider much the same way that I use to colour as a child, with a free spirited whimsy-like mischievous outlook, which I continue to draw on for inspiration today.  “Purple puppies, blue bunnies, aqua peonies,…why not?”.    I guess you could best describe my embroidery style much like that of a kaleidoscope. The effect is much like a pansy…ah the pansy my muse!  This multi-coloured tough little perfectly delicate flower understands the mischievous diverseness of nature.

I love to embroider so much, that I have completed many, many samples with no particular agenda or plan as to how to use them. My imagination stirs and I picture one of a kind keepsakes, such as cushions, bags, purses or stuffed animals. While embroidering I get lost in bliss.  It serves as a form of meditation and now that summer has arrived, I will be out on my front porch
sipping lemonade, sewing the smallest of stitches, all while
creating something from nothing,

Finding Love

Brain over at One Stop Poetry wants us to take a trip down memory lane, and repost something from before they came along. I wrote this poem soon after meeting my now husband, Bob.  I never knew a person could fall so hard and so fast into head over heals  Love. Through all of what life has thrown our way,  both good and bad, we continue to share that, everything is new and wonderful spark of love and lust  from when we first met and fell in love.  Yes that is eighties hair lol!

Falling In Love

This calm I feel
Has been long awaiting
You've touched me now
And there's no evading
This special trust
I feel within
My Heart is full
Of love again
