Feeling very far from home - alone
in the dark of night
that seems to stretch on forever.

No where to turn - lost
in the midst of life – cast
adrift on dry land.

Just out of reach of living

no where to turn...
no one to turn to.

Grasping for clarity - alone
reaching for long-forgotten

searching for what has escaped.

No where to turn...

No one to turn to.
Find me, guide me, save me
from this trap of the unknown.

Where is the home that I recognize?
how do I return ?
does it still exist ?

does it wait in quiet solitude?
Authors note
This write came about since I’m feeling a bit under the weather,
due to a thyroid problem. Hopefully the change in meds,
will have me as good as new within a couple of weeks.

Posted for my friend JL at
where you’re always welcome
and everyone knows your name.

  1. adrift on dry land...ahhhhh

  2. Get rest, be well. I'm sure you'll find it just where you left it.

  3. And I hope you feel better too...

    love these lines:

Where is the home that I recognize?
    how do I return
    does it still exist

  4. i can feel the desperation...see you found a bit of muse...smiles. hope you are feeling better...

  5. Sometimes it's hard to see the light when we are not well. I hope that you feel better soon. :)

  6. Thanks everyone...The fatigue is the worst part, but at least I know what is wrong now.

  7. I think we all can find a piece of home while in quiet solitude and if lucky, find that we are not in solitude after all :) Hope you feel better soon. I have medical stuff that makes me fatigued and it is so very frustrating at times. be well.

  8. Feeling very far from home...Just sets with you doesnt it?
Love this write Helena, as always it is wonderful to hav you joining in !
I know all about the thyroid , I too am adjusting to my meds... I hope it levels out for you quickly my friend.
Sick or well you write some powerful stuff, keep it up !
    Love to you !

  9. The single lines are especially poignant to me.

It's always nice to visit your pretty blog!

  10. The beauty in your soul and the kindness you give others will return to you in any crisis and buoy you until you find the strength to rise up and make the world you inhabit support you. I think this group of friends here will always respond as they have today. You sent forth a beautiful request even on dry "waters". Remember the sky is there for us all wrapping us all together.

  11. Just out of reach of living

There is a difference between alone and lonely. This speaks of loneliness, a depressing condition that many of us can relate to. I am now at the alone state in my life where I have myself for company and seldom pass tears over not sharing those moments with someone.

    Beautiful poetry.

  12. I love the way you structured this. It's lovely.

    Hope you feel better soon!

  13. Hope you feel better soon.

Sending you lots of virtual hugs.

  14. Healing thoughts to you, Helena.
    Be gentle with yourself!

    Margie x

  15. You really give meaning to the word "adrift"...and I too pray you are feeling better - hugs and blessings...bkm

  16. I hope you feel better soon but the best pieces do tend to be written in the depths of despair, as it were. Fantastic piece, great for this black hearted writer. Thanks for sharing with us!

  17. Hoping it does... these questions one so often asks when one feels as if belonging to nowhere...

I had forgotten how beautiful your blog is. Sorry for not visiting before ---and so as not to miss anything... you'll go to my blog list, now ;-)

  18. So powerful, alone in the dark of night, adrift on dry land.So Beautifully said and written.

  20. Hope you are better.
    I loved the repeated lines

    'No where to turn...
