Adrift

Feeling very far from home - alone
in the dark of night
that seems to stretch on forever.

No where to turn - lost
in the midst of life – cast
adrift on dry land.

Just out of reach of living

no where to turn...
no one to turn to.

Grasping for clarity - alone
reaching for long-forgotten
light

searching for what has escaped.

No where to turn...

No one to turn to.

Find me, guide me, save me
from this trap of the unknown.

Where is the home that I recognize?
how do I return ?
does it still exist ?

does it wait in quiet solitude?
Authors note
This write came about since I’m feeling a bit under the weather,
due to a thyroid problem. Hopefully the change in meds,
will have me as good as new within a couple of weeks.

  7. I think we all can find a piece of home while in quiet solitude and if lucky, find that we are not in solitude after all :) Hope you feel better soon. I have medical stuff that makes me fatigued and it is so very frustrating at times. be well.

  10. The beauty in your soul and the kindness you give others will return to you in any crisis and buoy you until you find the strength to rise up and make the world you inhabit support you. I think this group of friends here will always respond as they have today. You sent forth a beautiful request even on dry "waters". Remember the sky is there for us all wrapping us all together.

  11. Just out of reach of living

There is a difference between alone and lonely. This speaks of loneliness, a depressing condition that many of us can relate to. I am now at the alone state in my life where I have myself for company and seldom pass tears over not sharing those moments with someone.

    Beautiful poetry.

  16. I hope you feel better soon but the best pieces do tend to be written in the depths of despair, as it were. Fantastic piece, great for this black hearted writer. Thanks for sharing with us!
